LI AUTO'S NEW SIX-SEAT, SUPERCHARGING ELECTRIC SUV COULD BE A GAME CHANGER

Li Auto (NASDAQ:LI) launched the Li i8 model this week. The electric vehicle maker said the new six-seat battery electric SUV will begin to be delivered on August 20.

The i8 features rapid charging capabilities, with its 5C supercharging battery able to add 500 kilometers of range in 10 minutes and offering a total range of up to 720 kilometers depending on the configuration. The model is priced competitively between RMB321,800 and RMB369,800 (roughly $44,400–$51,000), and includes advanced features such as all-wheel drive, dual-chamber air suspension, and a low drag coefficient of 0.218. Li Auto (NASDAQ:LI) is offering three variants of the Li i8 (Pro, Max, and Ultra) with different pricing levels.

The launch of the i8 and the upcoming five-seat i6 SUV will bolster Li Auto's (LI) lineup to seven models, covering multiple premium and family-oriented segments.

Notably, Li Auto (LI) has also expanded its supercharging infrastructure, now boasting 3,000 stations across China, which directly supports the new vehicle’s long-range, fast-charging proposition.

Analysts think the development by Li Auto (LI) of a proprietary electric drive system and new high-voltage battery electric platform set up the company to be a leader in the industry. The new Li i8 is also seen as helping Li Auto (LI) to compete against Nio (NIO), Tesla (TSLA), and XPeng (XPEV), as it looks to attract high-end and tech-savvy consumers.

Shares of Li Auto (LI) fell 4.2% in morning trading on Tuesday on a down day for the electric vehicle sector as a whole.
