CHEVY’S GLOBAL PICKUP JUST GOT SHARPER—AND IT STARTS UNDER $26K

Chevrolet continues to build momentum in the South American market through a series of updates and new model launches. Following recent enhancements to the Onix hatchback, Onix Plus sedan, and Tracker crossover, as well as the introduction of the China-sourced Spark EUV and Captiva EV, Chevy is now rolling out a modestly updated version of its Montana pickup truck.

The Montana, which debuted in 2023, retains its overall design aesthetic. Chevy considered a major facelift unnecessary, despite the Tracker model recently receiving a more aggressive front-end treatment. For the 2026 model year, exterior changes are subtle, limited to new 17-inch alloy wheels for the Premier and RS trims and the addition of a Scarlet Red paint option.

The base MT trim receives a minor upgrade, now featuring body-colored mirrors and door handles as standard. The pickup maintains its compact footprint, measuring 185.7 inches (4,717 mm) in length.

Interior Tech Enhancements

The most notable changes are found in the cabin. The Montana now boasts the latest digital cockpit setup, shared with the Onix and Tracker models. This includes an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11-inch central infotainment display. All trims except the base MT come standard with this updated layout, while the entry-level model retains analog gauges and an 8-inch touchscreen.

Chevrolet has expanded the range of optional features, adding ambient lighting, floor mats with raised edges, puddle lights, a premium sound system, a bike rack, and a rear hitch. The hitch enables the Montana to tow trailers up to 882 pounds (400 kg). The Multi-Flex bed, offering 31 cubic feet (874 liters) of capacity, is compatible with over 20 accessories, including cargo dividers, tie-down hooks, dual-side lighting, and a tonneau cover.

Standard equipment for the 2026 model year includes six airbags, automatic headlights, collision warning, a rear window defroster, a cargo bed protector, dual bed lighting, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Furthermore, General Motors' OnStar system now incorporates Safe Tracking. This feature allows an attendant to monitor the vehicle's route temporarily and, if necessary, access cabin audio to assist authorities in emergencies. Higher trim levels offer additional amenities such as full LED headlights, keyless entry, wireless charging, a rearview camera, and blind-spot monitoring.

Three-Cylinder Powertrain Upgrades

Under the hood, the Montana shares its unibody platform with the Tracker and benefits from refined suspension tuning. The 1.2-liter Turbo Flex three-cylinder engine has been slightly uprated, now producing 139 horsepower (104 kW / 141 PS), up from 131 hp (98 kW / 133 PS). Fuel efficiency has also improved by 4%.

Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission, with power delivered exclusively to the front wheels. All-wheel drive is not offered.

Pricing and Market Availability

The 2026 Chevrolet Montana is now available for order in Brazil, with prices ranging from about 141,790 BRL (approximately 25,400 USD) to 177,290 BRL (approximately 31,700 USD), depending on the trim level. The truck is manufactured locally and exported to Argentina and Uruguay. General Motors projects that pickup truck sales in Brazil will surpass 500,000 units annually for the first time this year, marking a significant milestone for the segment.
