CHERY’S WILD T1TP SUV TRANSFORMS INTO A PICKUP, A CAMPER, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

Chery has officially unveiled the T1TP, a futuristic concept that redefines versatility in the SUV world. Dubbed a Transformable Multi-SUV, it can morph into three distinct body styles: SUV, double-cab pickup, and camper. Measuring 4,900mm (16.1 feet) in length, it’s even larger than the Tiggo 9, featuring a sleek single-body structure. The exterior design draws inspiration from Chery’s Himla pickup, but the showstopper is its roof extension system, allowing dramatic shape-shifting between modes. Split LED headlights, a bold hexagonal grille, and sculpted side intakes give the T1TP an aggressive presence, while its silhouette—reminiscent of the Tiggo 9—balances ruggedness and sophistication.

Chery claims the T1TP offers six unique configurations, achieved through interchangeable interior and exterior modules. In its default 7-seater SUV form, it provides a roomy 1,284mm (50.5-inch) cabin height—spacious enough for adults to move comfortably. A detachable tailgate ensures easy access to the rear cargo area, emphasizing practicality for family and leisure use alike.

Switching to pickup mode, the T1TP transforms by removing its rear module and third-row seats, revealing a generous 600-liter (158.5-gallon) cargo bed. The setup includes adjustable partitions and tie-downs, perfect for hauling surfboards, construction tools, or even small furniture. This modular approach allows drivers to transition seamlessly between family hauler and workhorse, depending on their lifestyle needs.

For adventurers, the camper mode transforms the T1TP into a compact mobile base camp. It includes a pop-up roof tent, side awning, external power source, and even a rear entertainment screen. With these additions, Chery is clearly aiming for the booming outdoor and overlanding market, appealing to those who want SUV comfort and RV flexibility in one vehicle.

Powertrain details are still under wraps, but the Super Hybrid badge on the tailgate suggests a plug-in hybrid setup combining a 1.5-liter turbo engine, an electric motor, and a floor-mounted battery pack. Chery estimates a combined range of 1,200–1,400 km (745–870 miles)—putting it among the most efficient vehicles in its class if achieved in production.

Developed over 300 days of research starting in early 2024, the T1TP represents Chery’s boldest experiment yet in multi-purpose mobility. The production version is slated for a 2026 debut in China, and even if only part of this ambitious design makes it to market, it could become one of the most innovative and versatile family vehicles on the road.
